Gentle of Spirit

My eldest sister is one of my favorite people. She hasn’t had the easiest life but has somehow managed to overcome the many situations she has faced with strength and persistence. If you ask her she will tell you it is only because of her belief in God that she has held on.

Growing up we shared a bedroom for a while and I recall one time when I was aggravating her. She threw a broom across the room and it stuck in the old half- rotten wall like in a cartoon. I think we were both surprised by this because it was not in her nature to do such a thing. It was hilarious though.

She is the kind of person that will give the shirt off her back, metaphorically speaking. She will stand up for the underdog. At times her cupboards have been a grocery store for her family so they wouldn’t go without. Though she never graduated high school she is one of the hardest workers I know; mowing lawns, stacking wood, shoveling and whatever else she can do to help provide an income.

A Christmas card she made many years ago that won first place in a contest hangs proudly on my living room wall. Every time I look at it I am reminded of her and the inner beauty that she holds. I was lucky to get not only a sister…but a friend.

Love you Zeta
