Years ago my son and I were returning to Maine from a vacation to Nova Scotia to visit family. It was April but we got hit with the worst snowstorm I’ve ever seen. Driving up Route 9, the Airline, the car went into a 360 degree spin and we ended up over the banking on the opposite side of the road facing the wrong direction. I remember shouting “God, no!” To my dismay nobody was stopping to help us. I had my foot on the brake because I was afraid that if I let go we would slide further into the ditch.
My son was so scared that he wanted to get out of the car but standing on the side of a highway in a storm was a bad idea. I started to pray and suddenly the car lifted out of the ditch and onto the side of the road. My foot was still on the brake!! I know beyond a doubt that God sent an angel that night.
Another time I was leaving my apartment to go to the store. I had my infant daughter in my arms. I was about to step off the porch when I thought I had forgotten my car keys so I turned back. At that instant a huge chunk of ice fell from the roof directly where we would have been had I not turned around. The results could have been devastating. As it turned out my keys were in my pocket. Another miracle.
Again when we were in Nova Scotia we were going to stop at the local grocery store and changed our minds and decided to stop later in the day. We learned that just at the time we would have been there, the store was held up by a gunman. God was watching over us that day.
I have so many more stories I could share but I just wanted people to know that God is there if you ask him to be. I always start my day by praying for His protection. I know personally that he can do it.
