“Heinz 57”

We all know that ketchup has this logo on it and most of us have it in our cupboard. But have you ever wondered where the name Heinz 57 came from? One story is that there were 57 different products in this company. Who really knows? I do know that it is made up of lots of ingredients and it is delicious.

Tomorrow is my birthday and I will be “57.” I too am made up of a lot of ingredients; skin, blood, hair, bones, etc. But I have many emotional elements as well. I have fears, doubts, and dislikes. I think of those things as challenges I must face. I also have love, joy, and laughter which I believe are there to balance me out. Nobody should be sad all the time.

I am learning that I will only have the life I truly desire if I face those things that impede my happiness; if I talk about them and let others help me. It doesn’t mean that I’m not in control of my life. It just says that I am actively choosing to move forward to a place where I can grow.

So happy birthday to me and all of my ingredients. I want to make this a year to remember!
