There’s no place like home. It’s been said many times and for me it’s true. After more than two and a half years I was finally able to go to Nova Scotia and spend some much needed time with my family. As I got closer to the border my anticipation grew and after I crossed into Canada I couldn’t stop singing and humming the national anthem for 2 days!
As I drove along the winding road that leads to my favorite place in the world, my lighthouse and the ocean, I rolled the car windows down so I could breathe in the familiar scent of the salty air and thought “I wish I could bottle this up.” Feeling the sand between my toes and listening to the waves gently roll along the shore helped me to forget the messy world for just a little while. The sun was out everyday despite the forecast for rain. I think God knew I needed it and He sure delivered. It was absolutely awesome. I couldn’t have asked for better.
As I left this time it was with the knowledge that it might be a while before I get back there. I am just so thankful that I was able to go and that there was lots of love and laughter. Hopefully it will tide me over until the next time.
