Blocks

There are lots of different blocks; road blocks, mental blocks, toy blocks, etc. Those are not the ones I am referring to. Allow me to elaborate.

I used to remember everything. But with age I tend to forget things if I have a lot on my proverbial plate. I make a lot of lists. Lately I have been placing little square blocks at the end of each item on my “to do” list that I put a checkmark in upon completion of the task. I asked myself why a block and not a line. The answer has not come to me.

We are strange in the way we do things. What I find normal might appear to be very odd to others and vise versa. So why do we do the things we do? Maybe we are copy cats or maybe my blocks are aesthetically pleasing to me. I’ve noticed where I work many of us have our own personally designed report sheets. They all contain basically the same information, it’s just located on different areas of the paper.

My dad “always” put his right sock on first. Same with his shoes. Mom had a small spiral bound notebook (hence the name of my blog) in which she religiously wrote out the monthly bills to be paid. They both continued to do these things throughout their lives. Maybe those were their blocks. In any case I guess it’s ok to have a style of your own.

My question to you is “what are your blocks?”
