Into The Light

As I was driving home the other night I was glad that we had turned to clocks ahead because it gave me a little extra time to visit with my children and yet still get home while it was light out. I never really knew the purpose of Daylight Savings Time so I looked it up. There were a lot of answers but the most reasonable one was “so farmers had extra time to harvest their crops.” I guess that makes sense.

For me it means spring is here and I can begin to look forward to better and warmer weather. It also used to mean that I would be making my annual “first” trip of the year home to see my sisters and other family. Unfortunately because of COVID that won’t be happening. It’s just another disappointment and trial I’ve had to face. But I am not going to lose hope. I’m holding onto the fray at the end of the rope with everything I’ve got.

Sometimes we are tested in ways we never knew we had the strength to endure. The reasons are not clear while we are going through it. Only when we get to the other side will we understand. So I draw strength from knowing that God is there and He has put very specific people in my life to help me on this journey that I would rather have not taken. I am looking for that extra bit of light that comes every year and to happier times when the burden is less heavy and my mind is at rest.
